I met Mie-sensei, the cook of the most delicious brown rice in the world! [Iwatetsu Ironware]
Mie Takahashi is active as a food remedy practitioner and has opened the Mie's Recipe cooking salon in Omotesando as a "cook."
How Mie Takahashi first encountered Iwatetsu ironware
Takahashi Mie: I myself used to love using iron pots made overseas, but because overseas distributors can suddenly close and maintenance is difficult, I started looking for a good Japanese-made product.
Around that time, one of my students told me about a nice Japanese-made iron pot, and when I tried it out, I found it was a perfect match for the way I cook brown rice, and I thought, "This is it!"
The secret to cooking the world's most delicious brown rice
In order to cook the brown rice deliciously, some preparation is required, such as washing the brown rice, but we were told that a ductile pot is necessary to cook the most delicious brown rice in the world, as the vibrations emitted from the ductile pot when cooking help the brown rice to cook deliciously.
What I like about Iwatetsu Ironware
Mie Takahashi: I was surprised at how light it was.
It weighs less than half as much as my previous overseas-made iron pot, and I now use it so much that I even take it with me when I travel.
The fact that it is rust-resistant also makes it easy to maintain.
I wish there was a smaller pot for one person.
Takahashi Mie's cooking class was held in a relaxed atmosphere, and we who interviewed her also got to try some of the food she cooked.
Healthy recipes including dishes that make use of the natural sweetness of vegetables and red beans, homemade natto, miso soup, and the world's best brown rice.
I was able to talk with the students, including Ms. Mie Takahashi, and was also comforted by Ms. Mie's lovely smile.
Thank you, Mie Takahashi, for taking the time to do this interview.
